‘無, 장단(무장단)’은 한국 전통음악인 산조의 가장 마지막 부분입니다.
모든 가락을 자유롭게 풀어내는 곡입니다.
느린곡에서 시작해 연주가 점점 빨라집니다.
절정에는 확 풀어지며 연주자의 호흡대로 자유롭게 곡을 풀어내다 마무리 짓습니다.
타악기 소리가 자유롭게 어우러져 장단을 흐트러트리는 느낌을 줍니다.
그 무한한 자유로움 속에서도 마치 사람의 심장박동처럼 세밀한 움직임을 발견할 수 있습니다.
이렇듯 불규칙 속에서 발견되는 규칙. 장단이 없지만 장단이 있는, ‘無, 장단(무장단)’입니다.
‘Mu-Jangdan’ is a piece of Korean traditional music in cadenza form, in which percussion sounds mingle freely with each other.
Thus, it creates a totally new kind of music.
The breaking of each rhythm gradually crystallizes into a single harmonized rhythm.
Listeners can notice movements as delicate as heartbeats in the midst of an infinite and free mingle of rhythms.
The work expresses the freedom that exists when there is a jangdan in the absence of jangdan.
